 The National Testing Agency issued the UGC NET Law Eligibility notification 2024 on 19 Dec 2024. The Eligibility Criteria now will also follow the amended application and selection rules. The exam is conducted twice every year and a candidate who wishes to qualify to clear the Law specialization under UGC NET needs to fulfill certain eligibility criteria.

1. Educational Qualification

• Master’s Degree Requirement: Should have a Master’s in Law (LLM) from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum Marks for General Category: Candidates appearing for the General/Unreserved category must obtain minimum marks of 55% in LLM.
• Minimum Marks for Reserved Categories: Candidates from reserved categories, including OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD and Third Gender are eligible with a minimum of 50% marks.
• Final Year Students: Students in the final year of LLM course can apply; eligibility will be confirmed once they attain the required marks at the time of result declaration.

2. Age Limit for UGC NET JRF in Law

For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

• Maximum Age: 30 years for General category candidates up to the date of the exam.
• Age Relaxation: Upto 5 years relaxation for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates. Research experience holders and ex-servicemen are also eligible for age relaxation.

For Assistant Professor

There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor. Candidates can apply regardless of age, as long as they meet educational and other eligibility criteria.

3. Nationality

The UGC NET Law is available only to the citizens of India.

4. Attempts
