UGC NET Cut-Off 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) announces the UGC NET CutOff for the test along with the result. The UGC NET exam will be held again in the June cycle from August 21 to September 4, 2024. The CutOff will be available as a PDF on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

Minimum Qualifying Percentage for UGC NET 2024

Procedure & Criteria of UGC NET CutOff Declaration

The procedures below outline the parameters used to determine UGC NET cutoff for each topic.

  • Total vacancies are assigned to candidates belonging to various categories as per the Reservation Policy of the Government of India.
  • The number of applicants qualified for UGC NET is equivalent to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both papers of the exam.
  • To be considered for the granting of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor, applicants must earn the minimum marks specified below.

General 40% overall marks in both exams considered together.
Other Backward Class Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL )/ People with Disabilities (PwD)/ Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe 30% overall marks in both exams considered together.
  • The number of applicants certified UGC NET qualified in any topic for a certain category is calculated using the technique outline below.
Example: Number of applicants to be deemed qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor in the subject ‘Economics’ for scheduled Caste (SC) category. Number of SC student that outline at least 35% aggregate marks in both examination taken together for the SC category for ‘Economics ‘ (x) Total spots for SC category based on step 2 (÷) Total number of SC candidates over all subjects who score at least 35% aggregate marks in both examinations taken together.

The aggregate percentage obtained by candidates in the two examinations corresponding to the number of slots will be used to calculate the qualifying cut-off for Assistant Professor in Economics in the SC category. Similarly, cutoffs will be determined for all disciplines and categories.

  • All applicants (who applied for both Assistant Professor and JRF) from the total number of qualifying candidates determined in Step IV will be considered for JRF.
  • The total number of slots available for granting JRFs is divided into different categories in accordance with the Government of India's reservation policy. The mechanism for subject-wise cum-category-wise allotment of JRF berths is as follows:
Example: The number of candidates to be deemed eligible for JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor in the subject 'Economics' under the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. Number of individuals from the ST category that applied for JRF and qualified for Assistant Professor Both in the topic 'Economics' (x). Total JRF slots available in ST category (÷) Total number of ST applicants over all topics who have chosen for JRF and qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor.
The aggregate percentage obtained by candidates in both examinations corresponding to the number of JRF slots will determine the qualifying cut-off for JRF in Economics for the ST category. Similarly, cutoffs will be determined for all disciplines and categories.
