Procedure & Criteria of UGC NET Cut Off Declaration
The procedures below outline the parameters used to determine UGC NET cutoff for each topic.
- Total vacancies are assigned to candidates belonging to various categories as per the Reservation Policy of the Government of India.
- The number of applicants qualified for UGC NET is equivalent to 6% of the candidates who appeared in both papers of the exam.
- To be considered for the granting of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor, applicants must earn the minimum marks specified below.

- The number of applicants certified UGC NET qualified in any topic for a certain category is calculated using the technique outline below.
| Example: Number of applicants to be deemed qualified for Eligibility for Assistant Professor in the subject ‘Economics’ for scheduled Caste (SC) category. | Number of SC student that outline at least 35% aggregate marks in both examination taken together for the SC category for ‘Economics ‘ (x) Total spots for SC category based on step 2 (÷) Total number of SC candidates over all subjects who score at least 35% aggregate marks in both examinations taken together. |
The aggregate percentage obtained by candidates in the two examinations corresponding to the number of slots will be used to calculate the qualifying cut-off for Assistant Professor in Economics in the SC category. Similarly, cutoffs will be determined for all disciplines and categories.
- All applicants (who applied for both Assistant Professor and JRF) from the total number of qualifying candidates determined in Step IV will be considered for JRF.
- The total number of slots available for granting JRFs is divided into different categories in accordance with the Government of India's reservation policy. The mechanism for subject-wise cum-category-wise allotment of JRF berths is as follows:
