KSET Eligibility Criteria 2025
The Karnataka State Eligibility Test is conducted to assess whether a candidate is eligible to become an Assistant Professor in the universities and colleges of Karnataka. The eligibility criteria for KSET are given below:
- Educational Qualifications
- General Category: Candidates must obtain minimum 55% marks in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities /institutions recognized by UGC.
- Category SC/ST/OBCs: Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB -Candidates securing minimum 50% marks in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination are entitled to relaxation of 5%.
- PwD and Transgender: Relaxation of 5% is provided requiring minimum 50% marks in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination.
- The Final/Second-Year Master’s Candidates: Candidates in their last year of Master’s Program or awaiting results may get provisional admission. Such a candidate must complete the prescribed percentage of Master’s within two years from the announcement of KSET results in case he/she gets selection, otherwise, shall lapse.
- Ph.D. Degree Holder: Students holding a degree of Ph.D. if their examination at Master’s level had been completed till 19th September, 1991 are granted 5% relaxation of aggregate marks and qualify on 50% marks only.
- Age Limit
- There is no maximum age limit to apply for the KSET examination.
- Subject Choice
- The candidate must appear for KSET in the subject of their post-graduation. If the subject is not available in the list of KSET subjects, he or she can appear in the related subject in UGC NET/ CSIR NET which is held twice a year.
- Reservation Policy
- They need to indicate in their online application their preference as OBC, SC/ST, as appropriate along with valid certificates from proper authorities. The students, who are OBC’s/SC/ST category, belonging to States other than Karnataka will also have their claim treated as general merit, based on Karnataka Governments’ reservation policy
- Eligibility Criterion- Information
- The candidates who have earlier qualified in KSET are not allowed to apply again for the same subject. If eligible in the present KSET for the same subject, their earlier eligibility will be withdrawn and the latest certificate will be issued.
- Foreign Degree:
- The candidates having foreign degrees/diplomas/certificates must obtain an equivalence certificate of their qualifications with a Master’s degree from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
