JK SET/ LASET Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the JK SET 2025, candidates must meet the following criteria:
JK SET Educational Qualifications
- General Category: Candidates must have secured minimum 55% marks without rounding off or equivalent grade in Master’s Degree/ equivalent examination from UGC recognized universities.
- Reserved Categories (SC/ST/PwD): Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks.
- Transgender candidates: Same relaxation in marks, age and fee as in the case of SC/ST/PwD categories.
JK SET Final Year Eligibility
- Candidates awaiting their Master’s Degree results or whose qualifying exams have been postponed can apply provisionally.
- These candidates are required to obtain the needed percentage within two years from the date of the result; otherwise, their eligibility shall lapse.
JK SET Ph.D. Relaxation
- Those candidates who passed their Master’s degree before September 19, 1991, are eligible for 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (55% to 50%).
JK SET Subject Relevance
- Candidates are required to appear in the subject of their post graduation. If the candidate’s subject is not enlisted, they must apply for UGC-NET/CSIR-NET.
JK SET Foreign Degrees
Candidates with their postgraduate diplomas and degrees from foreign institutions, must obtain equivalence certificates by the Association of Indian Universities(AIU).
JK SET Reservation Policy
- Candidates applying under the reserved category from any other state except UT of Jammu & Kashmir and UT of Ladakh would be considered as Open/Unreserved category candidates for JKSET/LASET examination.
- Applicants claiming reservation benefits should ensure they have a valid category certificate and domicile certificate for the UT to which they are applying-Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh.
- The last date of submitting the online application form is considered as the cut-off date for the validity of these certificates.
- Under-process or expired certificates are not accepted.
- Changes to the category selected after submitting the application form will not be accepted.
- A candidate, having applied as Unreserved, cannot subsequently claim benefits under any of the reserved categories and vice versa.
- Exchange of categories SC to ST, ST to OBC or OBC to EWS strictly prohibited.
