The candidates who have an aim to qualify for the Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) may apply for this exam. This competitive examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) is going to be held tentatively in the second week of June 2025.

What is UGC NET Exam 2025?

UGC NET Exam 2025 is a national eligibility test by the National Testing Agency that is conducted for all applicants on behalf of the UGC. UGC NET Application Process 2025

The UGC NET application process for 2025 will be done online on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The steps to apply are as follows:

  • Registration- Visit the official UGC NET website.

  • Fill Application Form- Login using your application number and your password. Enter personal details such as name, date of birth, category, etc, educational qualifications and exam preferences (subject, city etc,).

  • Uploading Documents- Upload scanned images of:

    • Photograph (10 KB to 200 KB, in JPG/JPEG format).

    • Signature (4 KB to 30 KB, in JPG/JPEG format).

  • Payment of Application Fee- Pay the application fee online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

  • Confirmation and Submission- Review the application carefully before submitting. Then submit the application form and download the confirmation page for your reference.
  • Application Correction (If Needed)- After the closing of the application window, NTA will open the correction window for a short term. Here, candidates can make changes like exam city preferences and personal details if required.

UGC NET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the UGC NET 2025 are determined by the National Testing Agency. These are divided into two main categories: Educational Qualification and Age Limit. 

UGC NET Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
  • Master’s degree must have been obtained in the relevant subject area as chosen by the candidate for UGC NET.
  • Candidates who are in their final year of Master’s or have appeared for their final examination and are waiting for the results are also eligible, but must obtain their master’s degree with at least a minimum percentage before the JRF award.

  • Candidates from abroad can also apply under conditions prescribed by the UGC.
