The Supreme Court recently passed an important order regarding eligibility for the recruitment of primary teachers in Uttar Pradesh. Through this judgment, only the DElEd qualified candidates will become eligible for primary teaching. In the ruling, permission has been denied to the candidates having just a B.Ed degree to appear in the primary teacher recruitment exams. This judgment, however allows candidates with both B.Ed and DElEd or BTC to be able to apply for UPTET 2024.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, UPESSC will organize the state-level exam for UPTET 2024. There are two types of exams that were going to be organized for the aspirants: Paper 1 for applicants who want to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for applicants who want to teach classes 6 to 8. UPTET 2024, Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted offline in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Paper 1
Paper 1 of UPTET consists of five sections, namely: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), Language 2 (English, Urdu, or Sanskrit), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Each section will have 30 questions to be answered in a composite time of 2 hours 30 minutes. Since the paper is aimed at testing the comprehensive aspects of teaching methodology and handling the main subjects at the primary level, understanding the teaching principles and difficulties related to the relevant subjects becomes very imperative.
Paper 2
In the following pattern, the candidates will also find five sections for Paper 2, namely: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 - Hindi, Language 2 - English, Urdu, or Sanskrit and Mathematics & Science or Social Studies/Social Science. This paper also contains 150 questions as in Paper 1, and the time duration assigned is the same. The marks distribution in this pattern has been fixed in such a way that it shall determine the competency of the candidate in subjects to teach the children in upper primary classes.
The eligibility for UPTET 2024 varies in the candidates who apply for Paper 1 and Paper 2.
