Analysis

General Category: Competition remains keen, especially in the general category. Cut-off is expected to be between 206-210 marks for JRF and 190-196 marks for NET.

EWS and OBC: The cut-offs for NET qualification are almost on par with each other with a difference of about 4 marks; however, aspirants belonging to EWS category may demand a little higher marks, say between 194-200 marks than that of the OBC aspirants, that is, between 190-198 marks.

SC and ST: These categories are in contrast to the general trend as the cut-offs here have become relatively low. SC aspirants would require around 190 marks for JRF. whereas the cut-offs are expected to come out to be 176-180 marks in case of ST aspirants.

NET vs JRF. The gap of cut-offs across all categories between NET and JRF cut-offs is significant, reflecting that the competition is much more stringent in case of Junior Research Fellowship. The difference runs between 10 to 16 marks in most categories.

Score Range The expected scores are now shown in total marks format, ostensibly over a maximum of 300 (assuming 100 questions with 2 marks each and 2 papers). More vividly does it convey the required performance on an entirety.

Note: These cuts, as perceived by JRF ADDA's analysis, might differ in the ultimate result and are subject to several other factors that include the number of applicants, overall performance, and seats that will be available.

Do not lose hope and be prepared for the subsequent exams that are carried out later if required. Also, do not forget that UGC NET is a very competitive examination with minimal margins being the difference in some cases.

Wait for an official announcement from the National Testing Agency (NTA) as regards actual results and cut-offs.
