The National Testing Agency is all set to display the provisional answer key for UGC NET 2024, or University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test. Candidates can then look forward to a review of their respective response sheets and thereby estimate scores before the final result declaration.
Important: The provisional answer key will be made available on the official NTA websites: nta.ac.in and ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
UGC NET 2024 Examination was conducted from August 21, 2024, to September 4, 2024. However, due to natural calamities and some technical issues, the conduction of some examination centers had been canceled, and certain exams were conducted in continuation on September 4 and 5, 2024. Candidates who had appeared for that center must check the provisional answer key declaration for cross-checking answers and raising objections, if any.
In order to view the provisional answer key after it is published, candidates can follow these steps easily:
Visit the Official Website: Visit nta.ac.in or ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
Find the Link: Find the link titled "Public Notice Answer Key Challenge UGC – NET June 2024".
Login: Sign in using your application number along with your date of birth.
Answer Key Download: After logging in, the provisional answer key shall be displayed on the screen. Download the answer key and keep it for reference.
The Provisional answer key will enable candidates to cross-check their answers and thereby calculate their probable scores before the declaration of the final results of the UGC-NET examination. It also opens the window for raising objection against the discrepancies in the answer keys.
Knowledge of the marking scheme is necessary for estimating your score. The explanation of the marking scheme in UGC NET 2024 goes like this:
Correct Attempts: For the correct answer choice, 2 marks are awarded.
No Negative Marking: There will not be any negative marking for incorrect attempts. An incorrect answer choice gets no marks.
Unattempted Questions: Unattempted questions or those marked for review shall not count against you or bring down your overall score. No marks are deducted or awarded.
Dropped Questions: If a question is found to be incorrect or ambiguous, NTA will be awarding 2 marks to all candidates who have attempted the question. If the questions are completely omitted then candidates who have marked the correct answer would be credited.
With this kind of pattern of marking scheme, one would be able to estimate the scores based on the provisional answer key.
If you feel that there are errors in the provisional answer key, then it can also be challenged. Although challenging each of them requires the payment of a certain fee, the fee may be returned if the challenge happens to be valid.
To challenge the UGC NET 2024 Provisional Answer Key:
Login: Enter into the NTA UGC NET portal and login with the application number and date of birth.
Challenge the question you feel like challenging with a valid reason or supporting document.
Pay the Fee: Each challenge will be entertained on the payment of Rs 200 as challenge fee which will be refunded if your challenge is accepted.
Go through the answer key carefully and raise the objections related to it, if any, within the stipulated time.
The candidate's review of performance and raising of objections against errors, if any, would thus be based upon the provisional answer key. This is a step towards ensuring fairness in evaluation for all candidates before the final results can be declared. In this regard, NTA will examine such objections, if any, and publish the final answer keys to determine the UGC NET 2024 results after the provisional phase.
