Master's Degree: Minimum 55% marks or equivalent Grade "B" on the UGC seven-point scale in a relevant subject
Relaxation: 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates
M.Phil. Degree Holders: Direct admission with at least 55% marks in M.Phil. in the same subject
Final Year Students: Can apply but must complete their degree before final admission
Entrance Test Exemptions: UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or GATE qualified candidates are exempt from the entrance exam

The JMI PhD admission selection process consists of two main stages:
Paper I: Research methodology (100 MCQs in 2 hours)
Paper II: Subject-wise test (3 hours)
